The Trowbridge Championships - Sunday 21st July 2013 |

VERY disappointing in terms of number of competitors from Calne, Chippenham and Marlborough Clubs. However, I am very proud of those that did enter.
Ellis Sinclair and Sebastian Starr do Earl Danbys Primary School in Brinkworth and did fantastically well to enter this competition given the amount of Judo they have done. In fact, this was Ellis's first Competition ever and only Sebastian's second.
Both Ellis and Sebastian will benefit massively from the experience they have gained and I look forward to seeing them again at more competitions to come.
Lewis King of Calne Judo and Ben Cooke of Chippenham Judo also entered and were in the same weight group. Both raised their level to what they normally show during club sessions and were very competitive.
Lewis showed a great strength on his groundwork and Ben scored with a Tani Otoshi as well as a hold down. Ben and Lewis had to fight each other and it was a very close contest indeed. Eventually Ben managed to get a score and a win. I am sure Lewis will be looking to get the win the next time they meet in Competition so Ben had better beware.
Alan Sealy was our sole Senior competitor and was doing well before getting injured. After a long wait for a paramedic it turns out to be just a muscle strain in the neck. Credit to Darren for taking charge of the situation in such a professional manner as you can not take any chances with Neck injuries.
This type of injury can be painful but Alan was up and about and moving around reasonably well which we were all thankful for.
Well Done Big Al and I am sure you will have better luck next time.
Thank-you guys for representing your clubs, supporting this competition and improving your Judo by gaining more experience.
